GOD’S DICE

BY DAVID BADDIEL | SOHO THEATRE

What would happen if someone was able to prove, scientifically, the existence of God?

Alex Turner produced the world première of David Baddiel’s debut play God’s Dice for Soho Theatre and Avalon, which played at Soho Theatre from 24 October - 30 November 2019.

When Edie, a student in university lecturer Henry Brook’s physics class, seems to scientifically prove the existence of God, his universe – including his marriage to celebrity atheist author Virginia – is rocked. Science and religion go head-to-head in a ferociously funny battle for power, sex, fame and followers.

David Baddiel’s debut play is an electric tragicomedy about the power of belief and our quest for truth in a fractured world. Directed by James Grieve (previously Artistic Director of Paines Plough), the production starred Alan Davies (BBC’s Jonathan Creek and QI), Nitin Ganatra (BBC’s EastEnders), Alexandra Gilbreath (The Provoked Wife and Twelfth Night; RSC), Leila Mimmack (ITV’s Home Fires) and Adam Strawford (The Plough and the Stars; Lyric Hammersmith).

Directed by James Grieve, with set and costume design by Lucy Osborne, lighting design by Ric Mountjoy, sound design by Dominic Kennedy, video design by Ash Woodward and casting by Nadine Rennie CDG.
