Alex Turner has been producing plays since he was thirteen. Recent productions include Backstairs Billy (Duke of York’s Theatre – Associate Producer for Michael Grandage Company), God’s Dice (Soho Theatre), A Prayer for Wings (King’s Head Theatre), Clybourne Park and Gently Down The Stream (Park Theatre – Olivier Award nomination for Outstanding Achievement in an Affiliate Theatre), Homos, or Everyone in America and Adding Machine: A Musical (Finborough Theatre), One Arm (Southwark Playhouse – Off West End Award for Best Director). Alex has recently worked for producers including Lee Dean, Rupert Lord, Patrick Myles and David Luff, Unigram, Playful Productions and Glynis Henderson Productions.

Alex’s career has spanned producing premières and revivals of plays and musicals at theatres including Sheffield Theatres and the Bush Theatre (as Interim Producer for both), project management (including TheatreCraft 2018, the UK’s largest theatre careers event) and working on the general management of internationally acclaimed plays and musicals at Playful Productions (including The Audience starring Kristin Scott Thomas, the UK première of Kinky Boots, the UK and Ireland tour of Shrek the Musical, No Man’s Land starring Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart, Don Juan in Soho starring David Tennant and Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill starring Audra McDonald) where he also worked on the development of new work.

In 2008 Alex co-founded non zero one, with whom he devised and produced interactive theatre productions at the Barbican, National Theatre, Bush Theatre, Roundhouse, Science Museum and the Fine Art Society, and lectured on devised theatre for the Undergraduate Drama and Theatre degree and on management and creativity on the MBA programme at Royal Holloway, University of London. Alongside this he worked for Frantic Assembly (on productions including Lovesong and Beautiful Burnout) and in theatre PR for the Barbican, Royal Shakespeare Company and Kate Morley PR (across 14 years on West End, Off West End, regional and touring productions).

Alex is currently Associate Producer for the Michael Grandage Company and Producer for Deafinitely Theatre. He has recently founded an agency, the Lovely Talent Collective, representing directors, designers and dramaturgs. He regularly gives mentorship, talks and workshops at universities, colleges and for the Stage One programme for new producers.
